Gold(I)‐Catalyzed Domino Reaction: An Access to Furooxepines

Abstract. We report herein the synthesis of [7,5]-fused bicyclic acetals, also named furooxepines through a gold(I)-catalyzed domino reaction. During this transformation, two molecules homopropargyl alcohol react together, in sequence including an intramolecular hydroalkoxylation, condensation, 1,6-enyne cycloisomerization, acetalization and isomerization. This reaction allow formation three bonds, heterocycles tetrasubstituted carbon stereocenters one-step operation with 100% atom economy. Post-functionalizations tetrahydrofurans.

The reaction pathways were controlled by varying enamines with different substitution patterns to give polyfunctionalized indoles and bis-indoles selectively. The reaction proceeds at a fast speed within 15-30 min with water as the major byproduct, which makes work-up convenient.
